FIREFLY — Atari 2600
A downloadable game
FIREFLY
You are a firefly in the dark, and something is hunting you. Dart around the room, snatch up embers for score, and slip through the door before the shade runs you down. Every room goes deeper — and the shade gets faster.
After your second ember, a white-blue power ember appears beside the regular one. Chase the score, grab the power, or play it safe — your call. Grab the power ember and the score starts blinking: that's your cue to press FIRE and freeze the shade solid for 3 seconds. Use it or lose it — the freeze fades when you leave the room.
The exit door opens on the top or bottom wall at random, and the first room's door is nice and wide to get you started.
How to play
Joystick moves the firefly. FIRE starts the game — and triggers the freeze when you're powered up. Collect enough embers to open the door, then dive through. Touch the shade and it's a red flash, a death buzz, back to the title. Runs in Stella, RetroArch, or on real hardware. A minimal Atari 2600 homebrew: 4K of 6502 assembly.
